A new build of Câi and Darren Code Calamity (1.2.0) is now available for both Windows and Linux. This will likely be our final update prior to our final presentations. To everyone who submitted feedback and bug reports, thank you very much! We hope you continue to look forward to future releases.

Changes and Bug Fixes

General

• Added a new "Demo Mode" option in the settings menu.
  • This mode will disable the continue button in the main menu. Clicking "New Game" will transition to the new "Demo Select" screen.
  • This screen will allow you to start the game from one of three save states: "Elevator Room", "Hub Area", and "Final Boss".
  • Each state will start you off with extra items, battle chips, and currency.
  • This mode is intended for demonstration purposes only and is not recommended for regular play.
• Final Boss health has been temporarily lowered
• Added a "Hold to Skip" feature in some cutscenes.
  • Hold down the "Pause" button (tab/escape) to skip cutscenes.
• Fixed an issue causing the game to start at the lowest possible resolution on first launch.
  • The game will now start at your monitor's native resolution.

Battle System

• Improved the timer in the battle fanfare screen to prevent it from counting up too long if the player was in a long battle.
  • Now uses Mathf.Lerp to increase the time from 0 to desired time, incrementing the lerp from 0 to 1 to make sure it always takes the same amount of time.
• Pressing the pause button (tab/escape) when you have chips selected now deselects the chips instead of immediately going back to the previous menu.
• Fixed a softlock caused when viewing the tutorial UI in the final boss.

Overworld

• Improved interaction radius with Nick so that it's less easy to accidentally trigger his dialogue.
  • You should talk to him though, he's just a little guy.
• Added much more detail to the HUB room.
• Added a little friend to the HUB room.
